I’m a mom, a lover, and a woman who wants to be strong. But I’m allowed a day of weakness every now and then. Just to remind myself that I’m human and normal… just like everyone else!
There are days when the exhaustion is unbearable, making every little movement and every little noise feel like a nuisance bordering on aggression. Days when I wake up with a rock-hard headache or a massive stiff neck that makes every movement painful, forcing me to hide my urge to burst into tears at any moment. There are days when I don’t feel up to the task, when I’m just trying not to let anyone down—or let myself down.
It’s in these moments of vulnerability—which are so hard on my morale and self-esteem—that you appear as a balm for my soul. Your encouraging and tender words are precious to me. I often just want to say to you: hold me in your arms.
Far beyond encouraging words and smiles, I want to lose myself in your arms. I want to lose myself in your scent, your warmth so soft and comforting. I want to tuck my head close to your heart to hear it beating deep within its chest. Why, exactly? Because it reminds me that everything beautiful is made stronger by what’s less so during difficult times. Because your very being is a source of comfort, because I know you love me and want me to be happy.
Thank you for all those times when you understand even before I’ve opened my mouth. Thank you for not making me feel guilty, for letting me be human—and, at times, vulnerable.
We should all have someone comforting for all those moments of self-doubt, all those doubts. Someone who lets us be weak for a day, and strong every other day. Someone to hold us in their arms until the storm passes.
Don’t forget: give me a hug!
