Baby blues? Don't worry... It'll pass.

No one is immune to a little bout of the blues or depression.

On our first night in the hospital, my little princess—my brand-new baby—choked while spitting up. As a new mom, I panicked. Even though the nurses handled the situation easily, I was terrified.

I couldn’t sleep at all. I also stopped eating. Why? I couldn’t tell you.

I spent a week crying over the slightest thing. A week afraid of passing out while holding the apple of my eye in my arms.

At that point, I was discouraged, completely “at the end of my rope,” as my aunt would say.
I honestly thought I’d never recover.

My husband took three weeks of paternity leave. Okay, I’ll admit it—he was only supposed to take two weeks, but he took a little pity on me! He sacrificed our family vacation this summer to take care of his wife and daughter.

Well, he stayed up all night with our little Macaque (yes, yes, that’s her nickname). I was able to fully recover. That’s why I want to shout it from the rooftops now: you’re going to get through this. Give yourself time, and above all, don’t hesitate to accept help…

So thank you, my Superman, and goodbye, baby blues—forever, I hope!

(Imagine me telling my husband—while crying—that he’s like Superman. And him bursting out laughing. The result: I’m crying and laughing at the same time!)
