Seriously, what are these EAR INFECTIONS? Just a simple earache? A bug that mainly affects kids? A complication from a simple little cold? To be honest, around here, ear infections are more than just a minor issue or a problem with the ear... It’s a massive mountain that keeps growing and has now become taller than Mount Everest!
No matter how hard I try to climb it and reach the summit, I just can’t do it!!! One ear infection after another for BOTH of my kids!!! They show up at our house without saying “hi” or asking my permission! Just hearing the word “ear infection” makes me want to run away... I see my son clutching his ear and I feel like crying out of frustration.... I hear my daughter say, “My ear hurts,” and I just want to buy a one-way plane ticket—no return... you know, if I come back, the ear infection will already be back...
Well, yes, they both have tubes, but those “little things” don’t stay in forever… unfortunately, they eventually get pushed out of the “ear-infection-prone” kid’s ear (thanks to my friend and fellow mom for this new nickname that perfectly describes my kids), and the cycle starts all over again… earache, doctor’s visit, antibiotics, a 4-day break, earache starts up again, doctor’s visit, another ear infection, more antibiotics.... And now they’re back on the waiting list to get their tubes replaced... it just never ends, and Mom is at her wit’s end!!
Can someone reassure me by telling me that one day, ear infections will be nothing more than a bad memory? Because right now, I can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I just want to take the suffering my kids are going through and give them a long, ear-infection-free break...
