The women of yesterday, today, and tomorrow—a wonderful story. We fought for the right to vote and to enter the workforce. Over time, we’ve carved out our place in the world.
Women are synonymous with strength, perseverance, and tenacity. For centuries, they’ve been the ones bringing the family together around the table. We often hear, “I’d like to work less so I can get everything done,” and that makes me feel like we’re taking a step backward. Should moms work less, or should dads help out more? This question might ruffle a few feathers, but the goal here is to get you thinking about what the woman of tomorrow will be like. We’ve fought so hard to carve out our place, and now we want to step back? We’re in an era of conflict between women’s freedom and their power.
Studies show that even in 2018, there’s still a wage gap between men and women. Admittedly, we’ve come a long way, but to maintain our place while still feeling like we’re providing for our families—is it now men’s turn to take their place in the family unit? Could men work fewer hours so that women can thrive and advance professionally?
Once again, this piece is a reflection—not a rallying cry for us to take off our bras and protest in downtown Montreal.
Let’s just keep taking our rightful place, because behind every mother is an intelligent woman who may want to change the world.
