In a few days, you’ll start kindergarten. You’ll also have your last day at daycare. It’s a place that’s very special to your dad and me, since it was the first time we trusted someone outside our circle. And you love your Chantal!
This marks the end of early childhood—your early childhood. Not so long ago, I found out I was pregnant! Then you were born, bringing with you a ton of love. You took your first steps, said your first words. Your first poop in the toilet. (Yes, that’s a memorable one!) You haven’t stopped growing. I got to be there for all your firsts right up until you turned 2.
For several months now—but even more so in the last few days—you’ve been asking me how many more nights until you start school. Will you have a backpack like your cousins? Will you have a lunchbox and notebooks?
You, beaming with joy, are eagerly awaiting your first day of school. Hopping on a big—no, make that huge—school bus. Way too big for my very first baby!
To you, who will soon be entering the big world of school, I hope you’ll have wonderful learning experiences there. I hope you’ll have the chance to joyfully live your life as a schoolchild. That you’ll make good friends.
No matter what you hear, keep believing in yourself. You can do anything! Don’t let anyone make you doubt that.
Have a great first day of kindergarten—I love you, my big boy!
Psssst… Mom will probably have a heavy heart. If I cry, it’s not because I’m sad to see you off to school. It’s more because life is reminding me just how fast you’re growing up!
