Who will we vote for?

Dear candidates for the office of Prime Minister,

You all have great ideas and excellent promises! You seem smart—most of the time. However, when I hear your arguments and debates, I can’t help but wonder.

Do you know what my reality is like?

I’m a mom. I’m a single parent. I’ve been struggling with mental health issues since the start of the pandemic, and there’s no help available. I can’t afford private services. On top of all that, one of my children needs frequent medical care, and we can’t seem to find a family doctor—not even for him.

This situation is my reality. It’s also the reality for so many people.

My sister, who had to close the business she’d worked so hard to build.

My neighbor, who has two school-age children who haven’t had stable teachers for two years and are learning to hate school.

My niece, who decided to drop out of school at just 16, too affected by the learning delays she’s been facing since the difficulties linked to the pandemic. Unfortunately, she hasn’t been offered any additional support.

Her.

Him.

Me.

All of us.

All of us who are struggling financially to keep up with inflation.

All of us who are short on services.

All of us who are short on staff.

All of us who don’t have enough money to feed our children.

All of us.

Dear candidates, are you aware of our reality?

I have very little interest in hearing you bicker. I hear plenty of bickering myself with two kids—as you can imagine! What I want to know is whether any of you are willing to put aside your differences and work for us. For me. For her. For him. For our children. For Quebec.
