To You, Whom I Love

Three years ago, my old life came to an end... Just like many chapters of my life that had turned the page before, I was going to have to find my bearings again in the whirlwind of life. I had found this man. You know the kind who turns everything upside down in his wake? The one who clearly shows you that “they’re not all the same”—much to the relief of your sanity! The one who scares you because he pushes you so hard to get to know yourself and declares his love a little too quickly… The one who not only pushes you out of your comfort zone but makes you feel so good there.

For me, that man’s name was Jonathan.

I was going to have to change, make room for him in my heart and in my life. I was going to have to devote less time to work than I had up until that point. I was going to have to open myself up to a new person without knowing if he’d like every aspect of who I am. It was a dangerous game, because the initial spark would have to give way to the process of getting to know each other—and you never know in advance if you’ll survive it. I was happy to see that the spark continued to burn, and I realized just how much I loved this man. And over time, I knew… I knew with absolute certainty that he was the man for me, the one with whom I would spend my life. To top it all off, he seemed to have come to the same conclusion, since he proposed to me on Christmas Eve of that same year.

I’ll spare you the details and the trials we had to go through in such a short time…

We moved quickly in our relationship, and I wouldn’t change a thing! Three years later, we have wonderful plans in the works and plenty more to come a little later… But it’s my children—my two little boys—who make me the proudest of our love. I can’t believe they’re the fruit of our love and that without us, they wouldn’t be here. I love them so much!

I love you, Jonathan—you’ve changed my life.
I realize just how much my love for you has grown and, through our trials, has deepened. I’m happy that we can count on each other through all circumstances, good and bad… Happy 3 years of love, and here’s to a whole lifetime more!
I love you again.
